robots.txt on Joomla

Joomla ships with a physical robots.txt file in the site root. Edit directly via FTP/SFTP.

Common issues

• Default file doesn't include a Sitemap: directive — add one manually
• After Joomla updates, verify the file wasn't overwritten
• Check if SEO extensions like sh404SEF manage robots.txt
