Running your first check
A governance check examines your Site’s public governance resources and records findings you can review in Flowpane.
Automatic checks
Recurring checks are available for eligible verified Sites with monitoring enabled. The interval depends on your plan. Review the latest completed result rather than assuming a pending check has finished. See Check scheduling.
Manual checks
Editors and Admins can start a check:
- Run all checks in the Site header checks the Site’s governance resources.
- Run checks on a Sites-list row or in the bulk action bar checks the selected Sites.
- The play icon on an individual artefact card checks that resource.
What happens during a check
Flowpane reads publicly accessible resources, such as robots.txt, and reports their status, findings and score where evidence is available. A blocked response or failed request may prevent a usable result. Completion time depends on the Site and the requested check.
Viewing results
Open the artefact tabs to read findings and check the observation time. For text files, the Workbench helps you prepare a Proposed draft. Saving a draft does not change your website or the observed score: publish through your authorised process and check again.

If the first check is not successful
Read the outcome instead of treating the absence of a score as zero or a pass. Missing resources invite an appropriateness review; Blocked and Error require access or response investigation. Confirm the Site address and verification, then use troubleshooting.
The first observation of each file establishes the starting point for Changes, rather than creating a Change. Later manual or scheduled checks can record meaningful transitions and notify eligible Workspace members. Recurring checks depend on plan and Site eligibility; Free has manual checks only. Changes email is opt-in and available for paid-plan Sites.
