Platform detection

Flowpane displays the platform you declare alongside the platform it observes from your public Site. This helps you choose relevant guidance without changing your declaration.

How detection works

Public page information can indicate a CMS or platform, but may be incomplete or ambiguous. Detection is guidance, rather than proof of which plugin, theme or hosting tool controls a resource.

Selection boundary

When the available information conflicts or is insufficient, use general guidance and confirm the platform with the Site maintainer.

Confidence level

Read the confidence and observation date shown in Flowpane. A blocked page or inconclusive observation cannot establish your current setup.

Correcting the platform

Update an incorrect declaration in Site metadata. Flowpane’s observation does not overwrite it. A detected CMS does not connect your Site or authorise management actions; see Extensions Hub.

Declared and Observed

Declared platform is your statement of the CMS or framework the Site uses. Observed platform is Flowpane's interpretation of available public evidence. Confidence describes the strength of that interpretation; it is not a guarantee of the Site's configuration or a security score.

For example, a Site declared as Joomla may expose convincing WordPress evidence after a CMS change. Confirm the active platform with the maintainer, check the observation date, and update the declaration if appropriate. A proxy, cache or mixed application can also make the evidence ambiguous. With a strong conflicting observation, Flowpane uses general guidance instead of relying on one platform's instructions.

During a redesign or CMS change

Rerun checks and, where appropriate, a Deep Scan after changes. Compare the new sitemap set and URL observations with earlier runs. A change in observed platform or URL coverage is a reason to investigate; it does not by itself prove a CMS change, data loss or an indexing change. Do not rely on automatic CMS-change alerts: review the available evidence directly.

For installation requirements, use Site Integrations, not the detection label. A supported connection still needs its own access and management permissions.
