Fair use and unlimited allowances
Some plans show Unlimited for an allowance, such as team members from Pro upwards. See Plan comparison for each plan.
Unlimited means Flowpane sets no fixed number for that allowance. It does not mean unlimited capacity, speed, frequency or concurrency. Fair use is not meant to restrict ordinary use of your plan: monitoring the Sites you own or manage for clients, at your plan's check interval, with on-demand checks and crawls when you need them.
Limits that apply to every plan
Flowpane may apply rate limits, queueing and scheduling controls on every plan, including unlimited allowances. They keep the service stable and responsive for all customers, and keep the load on the websites Flowpane checks reasonable. A check, crawl, import, export or AI Assist request can be slowed, deferred or limited by these controls.
Crawls also stay within the limits a website sets for crawlers. See crawl limits.
Fair use does not reduce a numeric allowance shown for your plan.
Use outside fair use
Use falls outside fair use when it materially exceeds what is reasonable for the plan, or degrades or threatens to degrade the service for others. For example:
- Automated, scripted or repeated checks, crawls or requests beyond the needs of real website governance work.
- Using Flowpane as general-purpose crawling, scraping, load-testing or uptime-monitoring infrastructure.
- Pooling access between unrelated organisations, or spreading use across several accounts to avoid a limit.
- Activity that puts a disproportionate load on shared infrastructure, or on a website being checked, compared with ordinary use of the same plan.
If your usage is high
Flowpane normally contacts your Organisation's admin first, explains what was seen and works with you on a remedy. Depending on the cause, that can be:
- Adjusting check schedules or crawl settings.
- A temporary rate limit.
- Moving to a plan or agreement that fits the volume.
- For very large portfolios and high-traffic sites, a dedicated or isolated environment where available, under separately agreed terms and charges. See Enterprise enquiries.
Protective action
If activity threatens the stability, security or availability of the service, other customers or a website being checked, Flowpane may slow, pause or restrict that activity. Where the risk is serious or continuing, Flowpane may suspend the account. Urgent action can be taken without notice first. Where practical, Flowpane explains the action and gives you a chance to resolve it.
The authoritative terms
These rules are part of the Terms of service on the company website, which take priority over this summary. An accepted order or Enterprise agreement can set specific volumes or capacity commitments; where it does, those apply instead.
