What is humans.txt

While robots.txt is for machines, humans.txt is for humans. It lists the team members, technologies used, and other information about the site. Entirely optional but adds transparency.

When to use it

Agree whose credits should be public and how they should be described. Names and contact details need an appropriate publication decision.

A design agency can be credited without listing each employee’s personal email. Review public personal information before publishing.

Location and responsibility

Use the root /humans.txt address and confirm which CMS, plugin or file serves it. This is an optional convention rather than a legal or technical requirement. Flowpane recommendations about headings or dates do not make one credit format mandatory.
