What is llms.txt
llms.txt is a community proposal for a Markdown document that curates verified site context and useful resource links. A proposed structure uses a primary H1 title and can include a summary, H2 resource sections, descriptive Markdown links, and an Optional section for lower-priority resources.
Adoption is optional and the proposal is not an RFC. llms.txt does not grant crawler access, permit or refuse AI training, replace robots.txt or ai.txt, control indexing, or guarantee that any model will consume the file.
Flowpane independently treats llms.txt as a scored governance artefact. That product choice is separate from its external requirement status.
When to use it
Choose useful, public resources and accurate descriptions. Keep the guide focused and review links when content changes.
A short list of current documentation URLs can be more useful than every page on the Site. Check that the linked pages remain public and relevant.
Location and responsibility
Use the root /llms.txt address and confirm which CMS, plugin or file serves it. This is an optional convention. It does not force a model to fetch, honour, cite or avoid content and does not grant licences or enforce access controls.
Refer to llms.txt proposal for the external specification or convention. Use Flowpane’s check details to understand what its own assessment covers; a product score is not a certification.
