Sitemap scoring

The sitemap score reflects the quality Flowpane can establish from current sitemap documents, child-document evidence and applicable URL evidence. Valid XML alone does not establish useful discovery.

Indexes and child sitemaps

A root sitemap index is a valid architecture: it references child sitemaps rather than listing page URLs directly. Flowpane uses the child evidence to assess the index. Successfully assessed child URL inventory is not classified as empty because the root is an index.

This applies to supported WordPress core, Yoast-style and Rank Math-style index structures. A genuinely empty urlset or an index whose assessed children are empty has no useful URL inventory. A partially failing index preserves known child findings and records unavailable child evidence without claiming complete success.

Read the relevant Findings

Serious unusable architecture or material robots/sitemap contradictions can affect Site governance. Smaller refinements affect their relevant assessment without automatically creating an unrelated severe Site limit. A limited crawl does not establish that every page was assessed. A CMS name alone does not establish reliable modification dates.

Only active criteria affect the score. Comparisons Flowpane does not currently perform are not applicable in the current model and do not prevent 100. A real Site can reach 100 by satisfying its active, applicable criteria.

Prepare and verify

Confirm intended URL inclusion and crawler access with the Site maintainer. Use the Sitemap Workbench for current evidence and supported authorised actions. A connector can provide useful source/public comparison; installation and monitoring cadence alone do not earn score points.

Proposed changes do not update public scores. Estimated projections use the same active criteria and retain cross-file, Site and assurance limits. Publish through the authorised workflow and inspect public verification.

Criteria evolve with artefacts and our understanding. Keep criteria identity and assessment time with comparisons across runs.
